#for secondary school and vocational school students

Hackathons (high school, university)

You have 24 hours to turn your idea into reality - are you going to do it?

For whom?

  • for all who thinks quickly and creates smartly
  • for secondary school and vocational school students, especially due to the time requirement of the 24-hour duration of the entire event
  • for college and university students
  • However, we will not reject clever eighth or ninth graders either.

What is a hackathon?

The hackathon is intense team challenge, where during 24 hours you transform your ideas into real solutions.

You won't be doing it alone - you'll create a team, get a mentor, have access to technology, and we'll help you take your idea from the first sketch to a working model. Plus, you'll experience things you can't do in school: collaboration, creative pressure, decision-making, but also fun, night brainstorming and presentation in front of a jury.

The assignment always relates to real challenges from practice – it can be about technology, education, business, social issues or health.

During the event connects creativity, technology and an entrepreneurial approach, often using tools such as 3D printing, Canva, AI or presentation platforms.

→ Last year, ideas emerged that have a chance of helping in the real world – for example, a simple medical tool printed in less than an hour. Proof that you can come up with something that makes sense even in just one day.

An idea today, a solution tomorrow - show what you have!

Why sign up?

  • Hackathons are not just a competition – they are days full of discovery, collaboration, and new experiences.
  • Participants will try working under pressure, learn to create in a team, present their own ideas, and receive immediate feedback from experts.
  • In addition, they get to know other active peers from different schools in the region and often make connections that last.
  • The best ones receive rewards, the opportunity for further education, or direct connections to companies and mentors.

It's not just about winning – it's about taking a step further on your journey.

Healthcare under the microscope

  • In March 2025, we organized a 3D PRINTING Hackathon at the ICUK premises in Ústí nad Labem.
  • The topic was the healthcare sector and the task was to design an innovative solution for patients or staff using 3D printing.
  • Students from several high schools participated in the challenge, and under the guidance of mentors, they came up with prototypes of holders, stands, orthoses, and aids for everyday use.
  • The expert jury appreciated not only the inventiveness of the solution, but also how quickly the participants were able to move from idea to functional output.

Young people in the Ústí nad Labem Region have a desire to change the world - and they know how to do it.
