On Thursday, May 16, the first year of the "Creative Minds" festival for high school students took place in the premises of the Innovation Center of the Ústí Region (ICUK). The underlying theme was creativity in all directions and areas. The festival was based on interactive workshops and lectures. No ordinary sitting and listening; on the contrary, own activity, initiative and above all creativity!
The event offered fifty workshops for smaller groups of participants, and was complemented by other interesting activities. "We tried a new educational event format for us. We gave the students the opportunity to choose the workshops they are interested in and sign up for them themselves via the application. The goal was for them to develop their creativity and learn new things in those areas that really interest them. And it worked," said ICUK director Martin Mata after the event.
The workshops took place in smaller groups of four to twenty-five participants and were aimed at promoting entrepreneurship as an important skill for a career alternative in the form of entrepreneurship in the future. The greatest interest was in Design Thinking, work and presentations on social networks, 3D printing and photography. There were also skills supporting entrepreneurship in the areas of self-presentation, creativity and neurographics. The pedagogues and school staff were also not forgotten, for whom three workshops were prepared on the topic of AI in teaching, How to make an interesting presentation and connecting the psychological effect of nature in education.
The event was attended by almost 120 pupils from five secondary schools in the Ústí Region: Jateční High School, European Business Academy Děčín, Hotel School, Business Academy and Secondary Industrial School Teplice, Kadaň High School and VOŠ, OA, SPgŠ and SZŠ Most.
The first year of the interactive festival was successful and the students evaluated it very positively. We are already looking forward to the next festival in 2025, the main theme of which will be revealed at the end of this year.
