Innovation in communication with the city police. The application "My Policeman" is looking for opportunities for development in the ICUK business incubator
Recorded deficiencies in communication with the emergency line 156, especially in municipalities where this line is not set up as standard, led father, constable and prevention officer of the Municipal Police in Dubí Ot Rössler and his son Jan, a developer, to the idea of developing an application “My constable". The story of the application began in 2020, when the team began to design a solution. The following year, he already presented the first concepts of a mobile application, and the team reached an important milestone in April 2023, when it managed to release the application for Android users with version 7.0 and higher.
More than just the police
The application currently contains information about almost 400 municipal and city police throughout the Czech Republic, important phone numbers of emergency services abroad, allows users to immediately contact the relevant municipal police based on their location, and at the same time provides detailed information about the location of the whistleblower, which facilitates more effective communication with the police .
The project does not only include the city police, but is now also testing the integration of other components of the rescue system. If the call via the application is intended for the medical emergency service, the application is able to automatically redirect the call to the "Ambulance" application, provided that this application is also installed on the device. This multi-functionality is especially crucial in situations where a quick response is required, e.g. when checking on family members, suspecting a break-in or when there is a need to solve a crime.
In addition to providing basic information such as contacts, activities in the municipality, websites and social networks of the municipal police, the application aims to restore public confidence in the municipal police and at the same time to increase awareness of their work. The team plans to add more innovations and features in the future, including expanding the app to Apple iPhone users. This is not the only reason why he signed up for the Startup Go business incubator from the Innovation Center of the Ústí Region in the spring.
Development under the wings of ICUK
The inspiration to sign up for the Startup Go incubator came from the effort to professionalize and develop the application and the team in a real business environment. Participating in a program full of consultations, mentoring and workshops will provide them with the necessary knowledge to set up a sustainable business model, an opportunity to consolidate their vision and strengthen their contribution to the community and opportunities for new collaborations.
"In mentoring from ICUK, we see a way to gain a deeper understanding of various aspects of business, to opportunities for cooperation and setting up your own business model. Currently, we only have a service without any sustainable model, we want to change that with the help of ICUK," adds Ota Rössler to participate in the Incubator.
Appreciation and support
A reflection of the application's potential is the attention the project is already attracting on the regional scene. A special honor for the team was the nomination of Jan Rössler, a key member of the development team, for Person of the Year in the Ústí Region 2023. This in itself is a strong testimony to the impact of the application on the community and obliges the team to continue working.
