Students, business enthusiasts and budding entrepreneurs should take note. On Thursday, October 20, the seventh annual Festup startup festival will take place. The festival is traditionally based on inspiring stories of entrepreneurs from the region, interactive workshops, free consultations with experts from various fields and an attractive accompanying program.
The festival program starts at 9 a.m. with Michaela Flamíková's workshop on Instagram as a sales tool. Half an hour later, a series of four business stories will begin. One of the first Czech podcasters, Dan Tržil, who comes from Ústí, will reveal how and if you can make a living creating podcasts. The morning will continue with a workshop by Ondřej Čejka from Czechitas entitled "Women in IT" and an entrepreneurial story by Eva Čejková, Ondřej's namesake, about supporting and helping women in business.
Another of the business stories will be the phenomenon of contemporary gastronomy, the Qerko service, which will be presented by one of the founders and CEO of the company, Lukáš Kováč. Adéla Zrubecká, managing director and founder of Nobilis Tilia from Krásná Lípa, will talk about business start-ups in the field of health and cosmetics. The third and last workshop, directed by Robin Langer from P-PINK, is intended for everyone who lacks a business idea, but does not lack the desire to do business.
"Festup is an event to get young people excited about entrepreneurship. To teach them that they can really realize their ideas and dreams, for example as a business, and that it is possible even during studies. We at ICUK can help them with this, for example thanks to our Startup Go! program," explains Martin Mata, director of the Innovation Center of the Ústí Region. Three workshops and four entrepreneurial stories will take place in the event spaces of the Innovation Center of the Ústí Region until 3 p.m.
In parallel with workshops and business stories, consultations with experts will take place in the afternoon for entrepreneurs, in the form of individual half-hour meetings. It is possible to arrange a meeting with six experts from business, finance, graphics, psychology, marketing and subsidy programs using an online form, and then just come and discuss individual topics with the given expert in person.
This year promises a varied and entertaining accompanying program. During the entire time, it will be possible to take a look at the mobile behavioral laboratory from the FSE UJEP, try out the rowing simulator from the startup Rowingo, winner of the Startup Go Grill competition, or take a look under the hood of the fun and experiential activities of Aktivity Nadohled. The accompanying program will also offer a stand full of trials and experiments of the UJEP chemistry department, a stand with a presentation of drones, or a real podcast studio with the possibility of becoming a guest of this studio. As in previous years, the humanoid robot Rubby will welcome festival visitors. You can find the complete program at www.festup.cz, or on the website www.icuk.cz. The event is completely free for visitors, only registration for workshops and consultations is required. Festup takes place on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the ICUK headquarters at Velká Hradební in Ústí nad Labem.
The event is supported by the "Smart Accelerator for the Ústí Region I+" project.
