Would you share an AHA moment with us during a mentoring session?
I looked at the multitude of stimuli in my head with one glance. It helped me gain insight from multiple perspectives, even the not-so-pleasant ones. Sometimes it opened up more possibilities than I thought, and sometimes, on the contrary, we completely closed the given ideas because they were unfeasible or economically uninteresting.
You often dealt with the business and marketing of the company with your mentor. Where did you identify the main weaknesses? And were you able to remove them?
In principle, we were praised for the management of the business and marketing, that we are taking it in a good direction, which I was very pleased about. Likewise for the reporting of the business and the running of the company, as well as for the fact that we did not fall asleep during the pandemic and are still visible. And that's what we were trying to do: "to be seen" and to make an outflow, so that more could be heard about us. At the moment, when the wheels of events are starting to spin again, it is coming back to us in the form of requests from clients, which we did not have before the pandemic and during the pandemic we actively addressed them in the form of newsletters and advertising on the Internet.
Currently (July 2021) it is easing and the pandemic is receding. So can we say that you are breathing better now?
We can't complain about the lack of demand right now, and we're very grateful for that. Thanks to this, we are once again recruiting new reinforcements to the team. I hope it will continue to go as well and we will never find ourselves in a similar situation again.
Could you predict how cultural events will unfold in the near future? In short, what can people prepare for?
I am a great optimist. If I hadn't, we probably wouldn't have made it through this time. That's why I think and with all my heart I wish and wish everyone, not only from our industry, that the "black February", which started the pandemic for us last year (event organizers were the very first for whom everything stopped, and we are the last who could do something again do), he never returned. So that the merry-go-round, which has now spun, will pick up speed again and everyone from the online area will once again return to regular meetings. And that there is interest in it! We are witnessing this even now at the first events we have already completed for our clients. People need to meet and gather experiences. That's where we are from, that's where our event business is from.
What are your next business steps?
We are in full preparation for the summer season, we have various corporate events (family days) ahead of us, and we are providing production for about 4 festivals around the Czech Republic during the summer. A novelty is the extension of services to include furniture and inventory rental. The rental company is already operating, but within a few months we would like to turn this service into an independently functioning company (www.d-rent.cz). We are addressing not only our current corporate clients, but also a new end customer who is organizing a wedding or a family celebration. Thanks to the great interest and the "hole" in the market in the Ústecko - Liberec - Karlovy Vary region, we believe that we will succeed with this.
Lubomír, thank you for your time and we wish you and the company a lot of energy.
