On May 20, 2026, the company's activities were officially launched. I-TRANS Global sro. in the Czech Republic – in cooperation with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in
Prague. The Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region was represented at the event by the director Martin Mata and international cooperation manager Tomas Sivicek.
This is an important milestone for the Ústí nad Labem Region: I-TRANS Global is the second specific Taiwanese company that announced it would be heading here. The Taiwanese company plans to build a European logistics center for semiconductor chemicals in the region with an investment exceeding 400 million crowns. For the Ústí nad Labem region, this is no coincidence – it is the result of more than two years of systematic work
Ústí nad Labem Region as a strategic gateway for high-tech investments
During the gala evening, the Ústí nad Labem region was clearly presented as a suitable logistics and supply-chain hub for Taiwanese companies. The region has a strong chemical industry background, a strategic location on the border with Germany, available industrial areas and a connection to UJEP. These are the factors that make it a natural gateway for companies from the semiconductor and high-tech sectors to the Czech Republic and Central Europe.
The event also included signing of the memorandum by UJEP, which was signed by Rector Jaroslav Koutský. A key signal was also acceptance of the invitation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of Taiwan, the whole evening had not only a business, but also a diplomatic and strategic dimension.
Two years of work, one concrete result
ICUK's interest in Taiwan's semiconductor ecosystem began in December 2023. Since then, ICUK has been coordinating activities with key partners – CzechInvest, TeaLa (alliance supporting the expansion of Taiwanese companies), TCCCZ (Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic) and CNSC (Czech National Semiconductor Cluster), of which both ICUK and UJEP are members.
During that time, ICUK:
- ICUK developed opportunities and presented the region directly in Taiwan... including by participating in SEMICON Taiwan in September 2025
- co-organized visits of Taiwanese delegations to the Ústí nad Labem Region, including tours of UJEP and industrial sites
- signed memoranda with Taiwanese partners on behalf of CNSC
- co-organized the workshop Chemicals4Semicon directly at UJEP as part of Czech Semicon Days 2026 (over 70 registered participants)
- participated in the comments National semiconductor strategies
Thanks to these activities, Ústí nad Labem has ranked among the TOP 3 destinations in the Czech Republic for Taiwanese companies from the semiconductor industry – right after Prague and Brno.
What comes next?
I-TRANS Global is not the only company in the pipeline. Two other companies are also in the pipeline, so this is not an isolated event, but a start-up. investment line towards the Ústí nad Labem region.
In the future, ICUK wants to attract investors who also count on activities with higher added value - in the field of research, development and education, ideally in cooperation with UJEP. The region already has companies involved in the semiconductor industry value chain: Chart Ferox, DeltaChem, Pure Bohemia, Spolchemie, Vodní sklo and Exyte Group.
The agenda is addressed by ICUK Tomas Sivicek, international cooperation manager, focusing on the semiconductor industry and international cooperation.
