Green Bike: When 25 years of experience gets a clearer direction and a digital boost

Gardens, public green spaces, swimming ponds and comprehensive turnkey implementations. Zelené kolo is one of the established companies in the field of landscaping and garden architecture. After 25 years of stable operation, the owner Tomáš Barták decided to take a bold step: to look at his business from a completely different perspective. Not because he wanted to change his craft, but because he wanted to be able to more clearly name his value and direction. This is where the company's journey began in the Platinn program under the auspices of the Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region (ICUK).

Green bike has more than two decades of experience in implementing turnkey gardens, from building elements to technically demanding solutions. However, over time, one essential thing has been lost in everyday operations: clear communication to the outside world. "„We knew that we were doing quality work. But we didn't have a strategic grasp of it. We lived the values, but they weren't clearly named.,“ explains the company management.

They perceive each space as a living organism, seek unusual solutions, strive for the perfect interplay of materials and create original environments. It is this respect for craftsmanship that led Tomáš Barták to use the expert perspective in the Platinn program, to get rid of "operational blindness" and gain the distance necessary for further growth.

Platinn Program: An outside view that gives things structure

The Platinn program, which ICUK offers to established companies, is designed to help develop their business and innovation potential. It is unique in that it provides up to 40 hours of individual consultations with top experts who bring valuable outside perspective, expertise and help companies eliminate operational blindness.

Thanks to this cooperation, the company received consultations with an expert, Mr. Jakub Bůšek, an experienced consultant with a background in building startups and strategic marketing. Jakub has a successful internship at JIC, where he helped brands like LOBEY or the DuoCards application grow, and currently, as CMO at FANL, he specializes in B2B strategies and digital company development. The collaboration focused primarily on marketing and brand strategy, a website audit and analytics setup were carried out, but a fundamental shift in thinking was the understanding that the website and communication must reflect the company's internal values.

„"This wasn't just about campaigns. It was about finally clarifying who we are, who we want to serve, and how we should communicate that. That outside perspective was extremely valuable," says Tomáš Barták

Generational synergy and digital advantage

The company's self-confidence is also reflected in its openness towards the young generation. Zelené kolo cooperates intensively with the Faculty of Socio-Economics at the University of Prague, thereby combining years of experience with the ferocious energy of students. Since January, a few university students have been involved in the company's operations, focusing on in-depth competitive analysis and modern marketing trends. "„These young people put a lot of energy into it. It's a completely different perspective on reality than we, who are already a bit jaded.,", says Tomáš Barták. This collaboration also has concrete technological outputs - one of the students is already considering managing the internal application Caflou, which provides the company with a top-notch overview of processes and digitalization.

Vision as a commitment to quality

After a quarter of a century on the market, Zelené kolo is very clear about what constitutes a good garden: it is not just „planting flowers“, but creating an original living space that respects nature and the personality of the owner. The new strategic stage that the company is now going through is not a search for meaning, but its confirmation and modern expression. Zelené kolo is currently experiencing a transformation that connects honest craft tradition and confirms that a truly successful company is recognized by the courage to constantly develop and remain an inspiration for clients and future generations of professionals.
