On Wednesday, March 13, the 44th session of the Regional Standing Conference of the Ústí Region (RSK ÚK) was held in the premises of the Innovation Center of the Ústí Region, during which two more strategic projects submitted in the Just Transformation Operational Program (OPST) were recommended for consideration by the Selection Committee of the State Life Fund environment.
Members of RSK ÚK recommended the Selection Committee of the State Environmental Fund for consideration project of the RUR University of Ústí – University region, university of the region and the SYNERGYS project, which is supported by Charles University. They thus joined the project of the Transformation Center of the Ústí Region, which was the first supported strategic project.
The main solver of the RUR project is UJEP, as partners all important regional institutions dedicated to the transformation of the territory are involved, including the Innovation Center of the Ústí Region. The goal of the project, in the preparation of which ICUK also participated, is to contribute to the fundamental transformation of the Ústí Region through excellent research, expertise and knowledge transfer, primarily at the individual (personal), collective (societal) and complex geographical (territorial) levels. The project has three separate but interconnected parts. In the first, called Creative People, it aims for a comprehensive transformation of the educational system in the region and the offer of new educational content and formats. The second part, Creative Community, is focused on the transformation of society and the economy of the region in a collective or community perspective. The third project part, Creative Environment, aims at the regeneration and diversified sustainable use of the landscape in the region, in which the environmental manifestations of coal mining and related industries are combined with the current challenges of climate change.
The Synergys project will contribute to solving problems and challenges in energy, to reduce the energy intensity and to replace fossil sources and plans to develop the conditions for the development and application of new clean energy sources and the possibility of storage in the rock environment for inter-seasonal use.
During the meeting, there was also a discussion about the support of elementary schools in the Just Transformation Operational Program. Challenges planned for the first half of 2024 include, for example, Strengthening social stability in the Ústí Region or Employment Support, which will be carried out by the Labor Office of the Czech Republic.
