Project for the development of an innovation environment and smart specialization in the Ústí nad Labem Region

Description

The aim of the Smart Accelerator for the Ústí nad Labem Region IV project is to further strengthen the capacities and competencies of actors who contribute to the development of smart specialization in the Ústí nad Labem Region based on the RIS3 strategy. The project builds on the previous stages of the Smart Accelerator and focuses on the systematic development of the innovation ecosystem, supporting cooperation between public administration, research organizations, schools and companies, and preparing strategic interventions with an impact on the development of the region.

Emphasis will be placed in particular on:

coordination and implementation of the RIS3 strategy of the Ústí nad Labem Region,
development of the regional innovation ecosystem and connecting key actors,
support for the creation and development of strategic projects,
development of international and interregional cooperation,
pilot testing of new tools and approaches to support innovation,
strengthening marketing and communication of topics related to innovation and transformation of the region.

The project also responds to new challenges associated with the transformation of the region, the need for greater competitiveness, supporting talent, introducing new technologies, and strengthening ties between research, the public sector, and the business environment.

What will it bring to the region?

the system of management and support of research, development and innovation at the regional level will be strengthened,
the quality of cooperation between public administration, research institutions, schools and companies will increase,
new strategic projects and specific development initiatives with an impact on the region will be created,
the development of talents, human resources and the business environment will be supported,
The coordination of innovation activities and the use of synergies between projects and institutions will improve,
International cooperation and the region's involvement in European innovation networks will be strengthened,
the use of new technologies and innovations in key areas of regional development will be supported,
The project will support the strengths, potential and long-term competitiveness of the Ústí nad Labem Region.

The project is a follow-up to the Smart Accelerator I, II and III calls implemented in the 2014-2026 programming period. Its purpose is to further develop cooperation between institutions responsible for the preparation and implementation of R&D support instruments, including at the regional level, and to use the outputs of implemented interventions and projects for the further development of regions.

Verification of the possibilities of more effective support for innovative projects and companies in the region through new financial instruments.
Technology for Economically and Socially Vulnerable Areas
A pilot focused on finding and verifying tools that will help develop the innovation potential of economically and socially disadvantaged areas, strengthen local businesses, services and quality of life, and better connect peripheral areas with the regional innovation ecosystem.
OpenLab – support for STEM fields
Verification of a functional model of shared STEM & life science infrastructure for working with talents, educators and other educational actors in the region.
