Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region (ICUK) welcomed a foreign visit from Japan. He visited Ústí nad Labem Takahiro Miyagawa that JET (Japan External Trade Organization), an organization supporting international trade and investment. JETRO operates as a combination of agencies such as CzechInvest and CzechTrade and has an extensive global network 76 offices in 56 countries, including a representative office in Prague.
The main topic of the meeting was development opportunities investment cooperation between Japanese companies and the Ústí nad Labem Region, as well as opportunities for Czech companies to enter the Japanese market. It is precisely the combination of support foreign direct investment and export activities represents a crucial tool for economic development for the region. Foreign investment brings not only new jobs, but also access to modern technologies and the involvement of local companies in global supply chains. Conversely, the development of export activities helps Czech companies grow, innovate and strengthen their competitiveness at the international level.
In recent years, the Ústí nad Labem region has emerged as a a region with growing investment potential. Combination strategic location near Germany, available development areas including brownfields and active support for the transformation of industry towards modern technologies creates an attractive environment for new investors. The company's planned investment is also a significant factor TSMC in nearby Dresden, which strengthens the importance of the entire Czech-Saxon region within European semiconductor industry. It is precisely in connection with this project that new opportunities are opening up for the involvement of companies from the Ústí nad Labem Region in supply chains, an area in which Japanese companies have traditionally had a strong position.
Japan is one of the key economic partners of the Czech Republic. There are currently approximately 269 Japanese companies, of which 23 are located directly in the Ústí nad Labem Region. Major investors in the region include: AGC, Parker Hannifin or Toyota, which have long confirmed the attractiveness of the region for foreign capital. This strong presence also creates a good basis for further development of cooperation, not only in the field of industrial investments, but also in research, innovation and technological development.
The visit of JETRO representatives thus represents another step in strengthening international ties of the Ústí nad Labem Region and confirms its ambition to become a modern and open region that can effectively use the opportunities associated with the global economy and the ongoing industrial transformation.
