In days June 15–17, 2026 Representatives of the Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region (ICUK) participated in a prestigious international conference Silicon Saxony Days 2026 in Dresden. Event organized by the cluster Silicon Saxony is one of the most important European meetings focused on the semiconductor industry, microelectronics and technological innovation.
Silicon Saxony is one of the strongest semiconductor clusters in Europe. For more than 25 years, it has been building a large ecosystem connecting companies, research institutions, startups, the public sector and international partners.
This year's 20th anniversary Silicon Saxony Days brought together more than 2,100 participants, 150 speakers, 210 exhibitors and representatives from more than 15 high-tech regions from all over the world. The three-day program offered expert lectures, panel discussions, an exhibition section, matchmaking meetings and space for establishing new partnerships.
The main topics were the future of the semiconductor industry, the development of technological infrastructure, the support of innovation, the availability of talent and the possibilities of international cooperation. Great attention was also paid to preparing regions for the further growth of this strategic sector.
The program also included a presentation by an ICUK representative focused on the possibilities cross-border cooperation between the Ústí nad Labem Region and Saxony. The discussion focused primarily on shared infrastructure, the use of the potential of brownfields and post-mining areas, or the possibilities of connecting the experiences of the Saxon semiconductor ecosystem with the available capacities in the Ústí nad Labem Region.

The Ústí nad Labem region can offer available territories, industrial tradition and potential for further development. It is the connection of these strengths that can create new opportunities for companies, research and talented people in the region," said ICUK during the presentation.
During the conference, a number of meetings were also held with representatives of regions, companies and institutions. One of the important topics was the coordination of further cooperation with Saxony in the field of strategic technologies, which undoubtedly includes semiconductors.

One of the concrete outcomes was a preliminary agreement with representatives of the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism and the Silicon Saxony organization on more intensive coordination of cross-border cooperation. In the future, a joint cross-border strategy could be created focusing on selected priority areas, including the semiconductor industry.
Silicon Saxony Days confirmed that successful technology regions rely on long-term cooperation between companies, research, the public sector and support organizations. It is the connection of these actors that creates an environment for the development of innovations, startups, talents and new investments.
