ICUK has a representative in the Interreg Czech-Saxony Agriculture Commission

Innovation Center of the Ústí Region (ICUK) newly represents within Agricultural Commissions of the Ore Mountains Euroregion Ing. Lucie Dohnalová, which is dedicated to agricultural development and innovation in this sector. The Commission operates within the framework of of the Interreg Czech–Saxony programme and connects experts, institutions and actors from both sides of the border. ICUK is thus directly involved in the cross-border dialogue on the future of sustainable management in our region.

This time the committee meeting was held in Chomutov, in the premises of CARC (Center for Applied Research and Certification, formerly the Research Institute of Crop Production)The topics of the meeting reflected the current challenges of farmers: climate fluctuations, the spread of new pests, the shortage of labor and the need for effective management in the landscape. The activities of the Jezerka Farm, which serves as a model of organic farming and education, were also presented.

Upon joining the commission, Lucie Dohnalová stated:

"Both the Czech and Saxon sides are facing similar challenges - whether it's climate change, labor shortages or landscape management. I believe that I can be of benefit to the commission in the area of innovation. I will be happy to share results, data and outputs from our projects and help build contacts, trust and long-term partnerships between the Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region and the Agricultural Commission."

By joining this platform, ICUK is expanding its activities into the field of sustainable agriculture and landscape management. The Commission offers space not only for sharing experiences, but also for establishing new international partnerships and creating projects that can be supported within the framework of European cooperation.

Finally, information about the program was also discussed. Support for Euroregions in the call of the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic and information from the Ústí nad Labem Region about the targeted connection of local farmers and agriculturalists with local gastro operations. The next meeting of the Agricultural Commission will take place in the fall of 2026 on the Saxon side of the Ore Mountains Euroregion.
