The Ústí nad Labem Region reports strong interest in supporting research capacities: the 82nd call of the OP Just Transition attracted many applicants

A significant number of companies and research organizations from our region participated in the submission of project proposals for the 82nd call for research capacity building in the Ústí nad Labem Region, announced within the framework of the Just Transformation Operational Program (OPST). The total requested amount of project proposals exceeds the call allocation of CZK 200 million more than four times. The call is intended to support projects focused on applied research, strengthening cooperation between research institutions and businesses, and commercialization of research results.

The submission of project plans took place through the SISTA system of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic from February 11 to April 9, 2025. Project proposals must now obtain a favorable opinion from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), which is a condition for full submission of the project, for which applicants will have until January 6, 2026.

Preliminary project proposals from the Ústí nad Labem region focus on a wide range of current topics – from recycling and sustainability to cutting-edge technologies. ICUK also consulted on a number of them. The Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem and the Czech Technical University are particularly well represented. Innovative companies, such as H2O Nanotec sro and New Water Group sro, have also submitted their projects.

The high interest in this challenge confirms the growing ambitions of local actors to strengthen their research and innovation capacity and contribute to the transformation of the region towards more sustainable and technologically advanced sectors.

The Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region sees this activity as a positive signal that local companies and institutions want to be an active part of change. If the projects are successful, they can lead not only to the creation of new jobs, but also to deeper cooperation between academia and business. ICUK appreciates that the projects have a high potential for rapid commercialization and will strengthen the offer of regional innovations on international markets.
