High school students from the Ústí nad Labem Region are preparing for one of the biggest challenges of their careers so far. The RobUL team will fly to Denver, where they will participate in the prestigious FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) from March 19 to 22.
In competition 50 teams from around the world will strive for the best possible placement in regional roundwhich decides on the progress to final competition in AprilThe team chose Denver from a wide range of locations where regional rounds of the competition will be held this year. In total, there will be less than 90.
The competition robot, which must tackle complicated tasks inspired by the underwater environment, was created under the guidance of experts from UJEP, Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region and other schools and institutions. The students spent the last months by designing, constructing and programming a machine that will collect and place objects representing corals and handle the challenging maneuver of hanging them on a metal structure.
"At the competition in Denver, we will represent the Czech Republic as the second team and the Ústí nad Labem Region as the only team from this region. It is a huge honor and challenge for us," says Tamara Klein, guarantor of the Robotým project for international competitions.
The activity and the RobUL team are under the umbrella of Faculty of Science, UJEP, and participates in its implementation and also Innovation Center of the Ústí nad Labem Region, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, UJEP and other regional partners: Martin Vohanka, among others, founder of the BLIŽKSOBĚ Foundation, Municipal cultural facilities in Litoměřice, HENNLICH, Malfini and NYYLO.
